Sooo funny story…
I was listening to this podcast and the gal being interview said this little genius line… “rejection is just re-direction” and I thought to myself, “Gosh that is soooo good.” What a great way to look at something that doesn’t go your way…
So naturally, I wanted to remember this and anytime I hear something that I don’t want to forget, I text myself. I have this ongoing text thread with myself with all sorts of random things. Anything from inspirational quotes to a new pair of shoes I would love…
Well, it turns out I texted it to our team group message and instantly everyone was all, Abby are you ok? Who rejected you…? It cracked me up!
I really appreciated the instant support. HA! But then I thought this is something that is so good, I SHOULD be sharing this with my team, with my family, with my husband and now WITH YOU!
I’m sure you can think of many times in your life where something showed up as a disappointment. You were rejected by someone, a job, an opportunity, a friend. The day you meticulously planned just didn’t turn out the way you wanted. The party or event you had been planning for months was a complete flop.
We’ve all been there, and it’s perfectly normal to feel the sting of rejection or disappointment in those moments. But what if we could shift our perspective and see these experiences in a new light?
Let’s explore the idea of rejection as re-direction, shall we? By changing our mindset of what rejection means, we can transform the way we perceive setbacks and use them to our advantage! Here are a few ways to shift your perspective on rejection:
1. Embrace the Learning Opportunity: When we experience rejection, it’s often because the universe has something different in store for us. It might be an opportunity to learn and grow, to develop new skills or gain experience that will better prepare us for what lies ahead. Embracing rejection as a chance to learn allows us to adapt and improve, rather than dwelling on the negative aspects of the experience.
2. Trust the Bigger Picture: We may not always understand why something didn’t work out, but trust
that there is a bigger plan in motion. Sometimes, rejection is guiding us toward a more suitable path or a more fulfilling opportunity that aligns with our goals and aspirations. Keep in mind that not getting what we initially wanted might be the universe’s way of protecting us from something that wasn’t meant for us.
3. Strengthen Resilience: Rejection can be a valuable test of our resilience and determination. It challenges us to bounce back, reassess our goals, and strive even harder. Overcoming rejection can make us more resilient individuals who are better equipped to handle life’s ups and downs.
4. Connect with Others: Sharing your experiences of rejection and how you’ve turned them into re direction can inspire and support others going through similar situations. It creates a sense of connection and reminds us that we’re not alone in facing life’s challenges.
5. Just Stay Positive: I know, I know…. easier said then done…. BUT maintaining a positive outlook can help us navigate rejection more effectively. Instead of viewing it as a failure, view it as a stepping stone!
So let’s remember that rejection is not a dead-end but simply a detour. By shifting our perspective and embracing the idea that rejection is just re-direction, we can turn setbacks into stepping stones toward our goals.
Let rejection be the catalyst for something even better that lies just around the corner!
Cheers,
Abby
