So this has been a long time coming…. I believe sometime in October I shared to the Social Media world that I was putting together a blog filled with my favorite spots to hike. Well, life happened and 3 months later I am finally wrapping it up! So for all of you trail runners, walkers, bikers or for those of you just looking to find a quiet spot to sit, here are my TOP 5 favorite spots in the St. Croix Valley.
#1. Willow River State Park trails off of Trout Brook Rd.
Why I love it: This is my favorite spot. EVER. My other half would be mad at me for sharing this to the world because he likes to think that it’s our “secret” spot. Which I’m pretty sure everyone who hikes this trail thinks that. AND that is exactly why we LOVE IT. It gets forgotten and there isn’t much traffic. The Willow River and the Race run on both sides of the trail. It’s a semi groomed spot but be prepared to climb over fallen trees and duck under branches.

#2. Willow River State Park off of County Rd E.
Why I love it: Another great trail that runs along the Willow River. I love bringing our dog to this one because there are tons of spots for him to take a swim. It’s a great one to bring my little guy too, he’s a little over 1 years old and just figuring out how to run. The trail is very moderate and well groomed and he can rip around and doesn’t wipe out…. as often 🙂

#3. The Fish Bowl
Why I love it: Now I’m not really sure if this is the real name for this…. but this is what I was told so we will go with it. This one is for the more adventurous. Why? Because the trail is more of a deer trail and there are many obstacles. BUT THIS IS WHY I PERSONALLY LOVE IT! You may get lost, you may not 🙂 But if you find “The Fish Bowl” you will be sooo happy you took the adventure.

#4. The Kinnickinnic River Trail
Why I love it: I just recently discovered this spot thanks to my friends that share my love of the outdoors. This trail starts in the residential area of River Falls. Seems like an odd trail head but you will NOT be disappointed as you venture farther from civilization and into the Kinnickinnic State Park. The views on this one are spectacular and once again you find yourself surrounded by water. There are endless trails to take once you get further into the park and you can make it as long or as short as you would like. Be prepared to jump some spots of the river if you want to get to different parks of the park.

#5. The St. Croix River!!
Why I love it: I think we forget that our beautiful St. Croix River can be used YEAR ROUND!! Please be safe and ask someone that is knowledgable, but when the river freezes over, it’s one of our favorite spots to take a hike. We walk right on the shoreline or even in the middle of the river and it is gorgeous. Perfect for a sunny day in January or February. Grab your dog and let them RUN!! You will not regret it. You will want to enter at Ferry Landing in North Hudson and walk North.

WELL THERE YOU HAVE IT!! GET OUTSIDE!! And PLEASE share with me some of your favorite spots!!
Cheers,
Abby
