We humans are so damn complicated. We like so many things. We change our minds all the time. We get ourselves into trouble with that little three letter word, “yes” and sometimes we don’t use “no” enough.
But that’s also the BEAUTY of being human too! We have the option to change our minds, we have the choice to love and learn multiple things. We are multi-dynamic individuals that are meant to explore all the things that light our eyes up when we think about them. AND… it’s NEVER too late to switch gears.
So how do we know what to focus on when we want to do it ALL. Or if you’re like me, how do I stick something out before I get distracted with the next great idea? It’s a constant battle right?
We have to narrow down our focus in order to move forward. We have to get clarity on that thing that we really love but ALSO has potential to be monetized, automated AND ultimately create time and freedom to do alll those other things that we are passionate about. We have to center all of our decisions around that goal and say yes to things that will push it forward and learn to say no to things that might distract us.
BUT MOST OF ALL… we just need to START. And actually give it time. Give it a real shot. There are way too many times, and I am guilty of this too, that we try something and are soooo excited and then as soon as something fails or we get negative feedback or it’s too much work, we quit. We move on to the next thing. Instead, we need to look at each failure and setback as a stepping stone, be patient and stay focused.
Life throws so many shiny objects at you. I have learned that tunnel vision is the way to go. It’s ok to look around every once in a while and ALWAYS keep an open mind, but don’t let the sexy opportunities snd comparison distract you from what you really want. Just keep going, stay clear.
Here are 5 tips that help you balance this.
1. Just start. Do the thing you say you want to do and give it a REAL shot. Then be patient. Results don’t happen overnight.
2. Journal. This self reflection is crucial to your focus and can help you get really clear on what you are trying to accomplish.
2. Lists. Lists. Lists. Make check lists. Cross them off as you go. One step forward at a time.
3. State your goals out loud every morning. Repeat your goals over and over. You could even write them down and post them on your bathroom mirror so you read them over and over again.
4. Make time for those other passions that you love. You know all those other things you love to do? Well do them. Find time to take a break and enjoy those things too so you can feel fulfilled.
5. Tell your goals to your partner or friends. This holds you accountable.
What do you do to stay clear and on tract? Let me know!
Cheers,
Abby
